The aim of our project “Arschkarte” is to ensure that climate change is not just perceived as an abstract concept, but as a real, urgent issue that affects us all.
In a world where climate change is a pressing challenge, we firmly believe that everyone can make a difference. Our approach? A photography project that sheds light on the issue in an unconventional way. Through creative, humorous visual narratives, we want to raise awareness and encourage people to reflect on their own actions and take action.
Rising temperatures have become an unavoidable part of our lives. In order to express this problem creatively in the book, the texts and images move upwards in the design grid as the heat rises.
Each page represents a year. It starts with the year 1900 at the bottom of the page. The average temperature fluctuation at that time was -0.22 degrees Celsius. With each increasing page, the temperature rises up to the forecasts from 2025 to 2035.
The prediction changes depending on how we react to climate change. With current measures, we are heading towards global warming of 3 degrees. But even if humanity manages not to exceed 2 degrees, the fight against climate change is not over. The natural system will still be out of balance, because even 2 degrees will throw the environment off balance. To make the urgency for action clear and tangible, the 2 degrees are deliberately part of the layout through tilted text and images. 2 degrees should not be underestimated.
